How to find out where a website is hosted

What is an IP Address?

An IP address may look like a simple string of numbers to many people, but this string of numbers represents the computer using the Internet protocol and communicating over a network.

It can be used to identify your connection to a network address or be used by your computer to connect with a server or computer that's hosting a webpage. Almost any electronic device that can access the Internet will have a unique IP address within your network. This means your smartphone will have a unique IP, as will your gaming console and computer.
